Katrina Bikes - Mechanics and more...
Seattle area mechanics played an invaluable role in the success of the Katrina Bikes
Partnership. They performed three crucial roles: a) They assessed the condition of
the bikes as they entered the hangar, b) Performed minor repairs, and c) Determined
which ones were ready for shipping. They brought their own tools, spare parts, and
tremendously generous spirit and humor. They came in during the week, evenings and
of course the event weekends. They taught our Seattle Public School students about
bikes and repairs, provided insights into "special" bikes, like the vintage 1939 and
other bikes. They were simply awesome!!!
