We finally have a nice winter day and to go with it
one of the club's newest bike routes going around North Seattle.
Ride start is at the Granite Curling Club on North 128th Street.
We begin going almost straight east to Mathews Beach.
At this point we pick up the Burke-Gilman Trail and head south
past the University of Washington on our way to Fremont.
Just before Fremont we come to Gasworks Park and being such
a nice day all head to the top of the park look out.
From here we can see the Seattle Skyline across Lake Union
and watch the sail boat races in front of us.
After a quick break in Fremont we travel along the canal to Magnolia
where we can travel around the bluff looking out over the Sound.
After a quick stop at Discovery Park we drop down over
the RR Tracks which takes us to Ballard Locks.
The locks are best known for the Fish Latter, assisting Salmon
on their way upstream as well as some pretty spectacular artwork.
From the locks we travel past the marinas on Seaview Avenue
on our way to Golden Gardens and uphill to the Blue Ridge.
After catching our breaths from some pretty steep climbs, we make
our way back to the start. Another great day of bicycling is at an end.
